Untitled Memoir Anthology of Whiteside, Walkerville, Lower River, and Evanston Submissions

Let’s share our stories and preserve them for future generations…

This upcoming, Untitled Memoir Anthology is accepting submissions. This book will be a memoir anthology of Whiteside, Walkerville, Lower River, and Evanston, which will feature a heartfelt tribute to the rich heritage and stories of these cherished communities. This unique collection will showcase personal essays submitted by locals and those connected to the area, weaving together family histories, cherished memories, and the vibrant cultural tapestry of the region.

Compiled and published as a labor of love, the anthology aims to preserve and celebrate the legacy of Whiteside, Walkerville, Lower River, and Evanston for generations to come. Contributions will highlight the area’s traditions, resilience, and enduring spirit, offering readers a window into its unique history. This project serves as both a personal endeavor and a collaborative effort to honor the heart of these beloved communities.

Submission preferences will be made to works of stories that are historical (pre 1980s but the older the better) in nature, as well as “how things came to be” stories, family stories, letters, photographs, journals and more.

Text submissions should be:

  • Longer than 600 words (unless they are letters and snippets), and may be up to 4,000 words in length
  • Please submit grammatically correct works as much as possible (pieces will be edited for clarity)
  • Please do not submit vulgar, obscene, or graphic stories (this book will be PG, I assume nobody would submit anything like this, but I am including it to be thorough)

Image submissions should be:

  • Clearly scanned documents
  • Not blurry if possible
  • Include a description in text for context
